MDIS worked closely with Axis Communications to design an enormous IP CCTV Camera system for an iconic “Hockey Town” parking garage having more than 3,000 parking spaces. MDIS worked with our client to offer multiple CCTV system design iterations, each time responding to feedback and various requirements. Together with our customer, MDIS has broken the several-hundred IP camera solution into “Phases” that can be rolled out sequentially to allow the garage to start earning revenue quicker.
The system is made up of a curation of phenomenal quality Axis Communications dome cameras, multisensor cameras, fisheye panoramic cameras, and stairwell cameras. Each Axis Communications camera was lovingly selected for its particular purpose and application, to be of optimal performance and price for our end user. The Network IP CCTV system is built on a backbone of multiple weatherproof IDF locations, strategically placed and connected together using fiber optic cabling terminated and spliced by MDIS. All IDF enclosures are NEMA rated and will stand up to cold Detroit winters. All MDIS cabling is “outdoor rated” and has been run within Schedule 40 PVC conduit with expansion joints to accommodate for temperature swings. All Axis Communications IP Cameras get recorded on a securely rack mounted Axis Communications Network Video Recorder, that is running the Video Management Software “Axis Camera Station II.” The Video Management Software allows for cross platform viewing, playback, and video exporting for a variety of users. Furthermore, the system allows for intuitive navigation of the complex “concrete knot” of a parking structure using customizable CCTV coverage schematic maps as well as camera layouts. Because the cameras are IP based, other companies who rent out space in the parking deck are able to take “second” or “third” streams off of the network cameras and record them on their own Network Video Recorders offsite too. This assists customers of the parking deck in protecting their own staff and employees from dangers, as well as having it recorded by the parking deck itself.
