MDIS assisted an internationally acclaimed automotive manufacturer at a state of the art “vehicle testing crash facility” by providing a solution for capturing video and storing footage to the company network.
The client, previously used an inefficient and antiquated process to capture folding and testing crash footage using a hand-held camcorder and multiple digital cameras with SD-cards afterwards which would back-up the footage and photographs to the company server. The client was also frustrated with having to independently go in after the fact and name all of the files after uploading information to the company network.
MDIS provided a unique solution, using a mixture of fixed varifocal and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) HD IP cameras powered by a rack mounted gigabit network PoE+ switch. The cameras drastically improved the image quality as well as the professionalism of footage captured. The cameras are on a virtually segmented private network so do not interfere with company’s network traffic, and record locally on a Digital Watchdog Spectrum 18TB Windows 10 Cube Network Recording Server. The Digital Watchdog IPVMS software is configured with custom recording parameters for the clients 30-60FPS requirements, as well as having the files stored in a “unique naming convention” that include the date and area of the camera in the file name so the client no longer has to rename the files.
The testing video clips not only are stored locally on the Digital Watchdog recording server, but are configured to backup with FTP backups instantly so the rest of the enterprise and company has access to the timestamped test videos.
