MDIS outfitted a half-million sqft brass forge and foundry in Port Huron, MI with 100+ CCTV Security Cameras, a 24/7 live viewing video wall, a 24/7 viewing station, and fiber optic cabling. The customer was a world class manufacturer of wrought brass rod and bars in a variety of standard and lead-free alloys for machining, thread rolling and forging applications. MDIS routed all of its cabling using articulating mini-booms in order to work around a challenging interior environment having gigantic fixed machinery, overhead manufacturing cranes, and 40’ high bay ceilings. Moreover, MDIS was able to perform its scope of work “around the clock” during a short “shut down” period, which lasted just a few days. Digital Watchdog Spectrum IPVMS (IP Video Management Software) was deployed for the CCTV Camera System to give the system’s users an intuitive experience for their many cameras.

Throughout the facility, network based IP cameras were used to capture brilliant HD footage of the interior, exterior, security check-in, and entry/exit points of facility utilizes a mixture of fixed, pano, fisheye, multi-sensor, and PTZ cameras from Digital Watchdog and Axis Communications. All footage gets recorded onto a Digital Watchdog P-Rack Recording Server running Digital Watchdog Spectrum IPVMS recording software.

Our customer had a unique request for the cameras that were to be used in their “molten brass” press-area, the place where live high-stakes production happens. They required “absolutely minimal” to no “ latency” on their video live streams, as the live streams were to be used in conjunction with a control panel for manufacturing of molten brass. MDIS accomplished this request by outfitting HD-TVI camera equipment with new coaxial cabling that was “home-run” directly to (4) monitors in the operators command center, and ran out of “loop out” directly on monitors into HD-TVI Digital Watchdog Encoders that allowed the video feeds to be converted to IP signal and recording on facilities VMS software, Digital Watchdog Spectrum. MDIS outfitted the command center with (4) ViewZ 24/7 CCTV monitors above the control panel for operators, having critical camera views of all the operation areas using a mixture of fixed and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras.

Multiple MDF/IDF locations were utilized to combat the enormous nearly half million square feet of warehouse space that consist of hardened industrial Cisco PoE switches interconnected with a web of single mode armored fiber optic cabling (furnished and fusion spliced by MDIS).

In an operations conference room space, a gorgeous 500-nit 24/7 Phillips 98” D-Line Commercial Display was installed at the head-end of room. The video source is driven by a “workhorse” Seneca xView Professional Viewing Station running Digital Watchdog Spectrum IPVMS (client) with custom CCTV overlay map, and customized user layouts of the entire facility used for operations meetings.
